Jan’s Favorite Books

As you read through my blog articles, you will see I mention many books. I love reading fiction books for fun like mysteries and thrillers. I can get all caught up with the pictures of what’s happening in my head.

But I also love reading non-fiction books to help me write more great blog articles or a book on self-improvement from re-designing a room to healthy living and everything in between.

The Problem is . . . .

. . . there are so many books out there it’s hard to know which ones could benefit you the most. Yes, I love to read the reviews, but sometimes that can be more confusing as the reviewers don’t always agree. So many books and so litte time.

The Solution is . . . . .

. . . . . I like to take reccommendations from women I know. Women who share similars beliefs and have similar values. The books I want to share with you here have so moved me into taking action that I would say most of them are life-changing. I hope you agree and if you have not read them, I hope you will buy the book or download on your Kindle or even your phone.

My “Life-Changing” Books

How to Win Friends and Influence People

The first book I want to suggest is an older one. It’s been around a long time and still sells many copies. And that is Dale Carnegie’s, “How to Win Friends and Influence People.” The tips and tools in the book still hold true today and will always hold true. Here are some of the best tips:

  • Part One: Fundamentals Techniques in Handling People
  • Part Two: Six Ways to Make People Like You
  • Part Three: How To Win People to Your Way of Thinking
  • Part Four: Be a Leader: How to Change People Without Giving Offense or Arousing Resentment

If you need to review these, I strongly urge you to invest in the book or pull it off the shelf, dust it and read it again and again. Timeless.

The 7 Habits of Highly Successfull People

The second book, you may have guessed it: 7 Habits (of Highly Effective People). Need a refresher? You need to know these:

  • Be Proactive
  • Begin With the End in Mind
  • First Things First
  • Think Win/Win
  • Seek First to Understand, Then to be Understood
  • Synerize
  • Sharpen the Saw

The are pretty self-explanatory. If you need more, it is also still in print.

Rick Warren’s The Purpose Driven Life

The first sentence of the first chapter is, It’s not about you.” There are 40 principles to live your purpose glorifying God through serving others. Jesus has many many verses in the bible where He did just that. We are to learn from that.

Do not short change yourself by not reading this faith based book to strengthen just that – your faith

The Bait of Satan by John Bevere

You will never look at “being offended” the same again. The book is also about living free rom the deadly trap of Offense. The book exposes this, the most deceptive snare Satan uses, to get between you and the will of God. And the sad truth, most people are totally unaware of it. It is not a theory book, Jesus speaks of it quite often. And yes, it was a huge wake-up call for me.

The Forgotten God by Francis Chen

The book is about the sad neglect of the Holy Spirit or Spirit of God. When Jesus left this earth, He promised to send a Helper. And He did. During His Ascension into Heaven, the power of the Spirit was released. In some church doctrine is it referred to as Pentecost. If this has you wondering and questioning, get the book. It is based on sound biblical truths.

What Are Your Best Life-ChangingBooks?

I am sure if you Google life changing books, these might come up but probably not all of them. I am sure you have your favorites, too.

The Last Thing You Need to Know

The last thing you need to know is that we may not all agree on these books. I just wanted to make you aware of the fact that the last three are the books that honestly helped me turn my life around when I needed it the most. They helped me to have a Faith Full Retirement.

Are any of these books your favorites?

Or do you have others? I would love to hear from you in the Comments section which of these you may have as your favorite, too and what others were life changing for you. (I may want to read them, too.)
